Abstract: Paper manufacturing is one of those messy processes. It's wet, noisy, messy and it all happens in a huge building. How can a little variance in relative humidity possibly make a difference? It's not so much in the actual production process, but in the storage where humidity measurement and control is very important.
- Paper that is too dry is difficult for printing presses to handle because of static electricity causing high waste and poor quality.
- If the paper is too high in moisture content, it takes longer for ink to dry, slowing down a printing process.
- Deformation of sheets or rolls of paper occurs if the moisture content is too high.
